At the center of the outback experience

The North Gregory Hotel is proud to support local events such as the annual Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival, which attracts some of Australia’s best film talent to Winton. The festival, now in its 5th year, celebrates the Australian film industry and the people who dedicate their lives to film.

Banjo’s Theatre of Fire

Entertainment at The Gregory takes inspiration from the characters and stories of the channel country. Banjo’s Theatre of Fire is an immersive theatre show that tells the story of the swagman on the lam and is set around the campfire with a slow cooked meal. This is available during May – September – stay tuned for updates on our facebook page.

Hydrotherapy spa

The outdoor spa, located near the entertainment area is the only one of its kind in the area. The health benefits range from easing back pain, enhancing sleep, improving heart health, and decreasing anxiety and stress.

The outdoor beer garden

The newly renovated outdoor entertainment area has an outdoor bar, a stage and barbecue area. Perfect for an afternoon beer or wine, or to sit in and relax in front of a nightly show. From May to September you can also enjoy wood fired pizzas, roasts and Banjo’s famous camp-oven dinners, view our Facebook page for daily updates.

Live entertainment at The Gregory

Dedicated to honouring our outback’s rich music history, this one-of-kind music experience of the west showcases a mix of up-and-coming, and contemporary artists. Live music is available from April, and poetry reading, Banjos Waltzing Matilda, and more start in May. All live entertainment finishes in September. See our Facebook Page for updates!

The Musical Fence café

A relaxed and creative atmosphere that is open for breakfast, lunch and takeaway. Our cafe is the perfect place to unwind with a coffee or tea and put your feet up. Open from 8am – 2pm daily.

The home of Outback Australia films

In Winton you are on the set of Australian cinema history. Its rich history and picturesque landscape have appeared on feature films and Australian television alike. The Proposition, Mystery Road, and Texas Rising: The lost soldier are all feature movies that have been shot in the Winton area.

Boulder Opals

Winton is one of the oldest and most famous mining towns in Australia. Boulder opals are very unique and are mined from large ironstone boulders under the ground. They can only be found in the areas of Quilpie and of course, Winton. They are the second most valuable type of opal and have a layer of solid brown ironstone on the back of the stone.
